Founded in 2016
Founded by Princeton undergraduates Yash Patel and Daniel Liu, the journal has long been dedicated to showcasing the research of Princeton students. Built on a peer and faculty-review process modeled after major academic journals, the PURJ aims to continue strengthening undergraduate scholarship by providing a rigorous, supportive platform for high-quality work.
COVID-19
had a profound impact on the PURJ, as Princeton’s campus regulations and suspension of most student organizations forced the journal to halt its operations. Without the ability to meet, recruit new members, or continue its editorial workflow, the publication lost momentum and several in-progress editions and materials were ultimately lost. For a time, the journal’s future was uncertain, and it seemed possible that the PURJ might not return. Once campus life began to reopen, however, students stepped forward to rebuild the organization and reestablish its foundations. In 2023, the journal was formally revived, restoring its processes and reconnecting with faculty mentors. Since then, the PURJ has continued to pursue its mission with renewed commitment.

The PURJ
is now an active and growing publication, supported by a dedicated team of student editors and faculty reviewers. It continues to highlight the research of Princeton undergraduates while refining its editorial standards and expanding its presence on campus. With each new issue, the journal aims to strengthen the culture of undergraduate scholarship at Princeton.
